Danny Jordaan re-elected as SAFA president for fourth term

Dr Danny Jordaan has been re-elected president of the South African Football Association (SAFA) after defeating Sandile Zungu at Saturday’s election.

Jordaan received 157 votes, compared with 82 for Zungu, according to a post on SAFA’s X account.

The election took place on Saturday, 12 September, at the organisation’s Elective Congress.

SAFA said on Friday evening that several delegates had received death threats, while others had been intimidated ahead of the congress.

Despite those concerns, the Elective Congress went ahead as scheduled, with Jordaan securing the majority required to remain in office.

The result means Jordaan will serve a fourth term as president of the South African Football Association.
