Morocco striker Tawfik Bentayeb fires Anderlecht to victory over Mechelen

Moroccan international Tawfik Bentayeb scored his first goal for RSC Anderlecht on Friday, securing a 1-0 victory over Mechelen in the sixth round of the Belgian Pro League.

The 24-year-old forward broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute, finding the net before half-time to give Anderlecht a lead they held until the final whistle.

The goal marked Bentayeb’s first since joining the Belgian club during the summer transfer window and provided an early boost as he begins a new chapter in his career.

The Moroccan moved to Anderlecht from Union Touarga on a four-year contract after an impressive spell in French football.

His performances also attracted interest from clubs across Europe, with Feyenoord reportedly monitoring the striker while German side Schalke 04 were also linked with a possible move.

Bentayeb ultimately chose Anderlecht, joining one of Belgium’s leading clubs as he looks to continue his development at a higher level.
