Bayern Munich hit Bodø/Glimt for five after second-half onslaught

Bayern Munich began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt at the Allianz Arena on Thursday.

The German champions were held to a goalless draw at half-time, having struggled to turn their chances into goals. Bodø/Glimt’s defence contained the hosts effectively, particularly during the opening 30 minutes, and limited the threat posed by Bayern’s attack.

The breakthrough finally came two minutes after the restart. Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 47th minute with a close-range finish.

Bayern doubled their advantage in the 61st minute when Harry Kane headed in from a free-kick delivered by Michael Olise. The ball struck the visiting goalkeeper’s head before finding the net.

The match also marked the first UEFA Champions League appearance for Morocco international Ismael Saibari in a Bayern Munich shirt. He replaced Musiala in the 65th minute.

Bayern continued to apply pressure and added a third goal in the 77th minute. Alphonso Davies produced a powerful strike from outside the penalty area to extend the home side’s lead.

Olise then got on the scoresheet himself six minutes later, finding the net with an excellent effort from outside the box to make it 4-0.

Bodø/Glimt’s difficult evening worsened in the 88th minute when Odin Luras was shown a straight red card for bringing down Olise on the edge of the penalty area.

Olise completed the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time, breaking into the area before unleashing a powerful shot for his second goal of the night and Bayern’s fifth.

The result moved Bayern Munich into second place in the UEFA Champions League league phase, level on goal difference with leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
