Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of Thabo Cele on a free transfer, adding the 29-year-old midfielder to their squad.
Cele has agreed a two-year contract with Sundowns, with an option to extend his stay. His arrival increases competition in midfield, where the club already have Teboho Mokoena, Marcelo Allende, Bathusi Aubaas, Gomelemo Kekana and Sphelele Mkhulise.
The move comes only days after Cele’s contract with Kaizer Chiefs was terminated by mutual agreement following a fallout at the Soweto club.
Sundowns had been looking to strengthen in midfield after the tragic passing of Jayden Adams, and Cele had emerged as a possible target in recent weeks. His departure from Amakhosi cleared the way for the transfer.
Cele made 38 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs after joining the club from Fakel Voronezh in January 2025.
