Al-Orobah sign French-Moroccan winger Abdellah Zoubir after Qarabag exit

French-Moroccan winger Abdellah Zoubir has joined Saudi First Division League club Al-Orobah after leaving Qarabag, signing a contract until 30 June 2027.

The 34-year-old left-sided attacker completed the move on 9 September, following his departure from Qarabag on 16 August. He joins Al-Orobah as a free agent after a period without a club, with no transfer fee disclosed.

Zoubir began the 2026-27 campaign with Qarabag and made four appearances in Europa League qualifying, scoring once. He also played twice in Conference League qualifying before switching to Saudi Arabia, where he has since made one league appearance.

The Lille-born player spent eight years with Qarabag after joining the Azerbaijani club from Lens in July 2018. His time in Azerbaijan brought six league titles, won in the 2018-19, 2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

He also helped Qarabag win the Azerbaijani Cup twice, in 2021-22 and 2023-24. Those honours account for the major trophies listed in his senior career.

Zoubir is primarily a left winger and favours his right foot. He stands 1.80m tall and has also played in France, Scotland and Romania during a career that began with US Lesquin before moves to Grenoble, Istres, Hibernian, Petrolul and Lens.

He joined Hibernian from Istres on loan in August 2013, returning to France the following year when that temporary spell ended. He then moved from Istres to Petrolul on a free transfer in July 2015 before joining Lens in July 2016, also without a fee.

At Lens, Zoubir spent two seasons before Qarabag paid €1m for his services in 2018. His latest change of club takes him from Azerbaijan to the Saudi second tier, where Al-Orobah have secured his services through the end of June 2027.

Zoubir is now an Al-Orobah player, having completed his move to the Saudi club on 9 September 2026.
