Barcelona lead Feyenoord 2-0 at half-time in Champions League opener

FC Barcelona lead Feyenoord 2-0 at half-time on Wednesday in the opening round of the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, after making a fast start and extending their advantage through Karim Adeyemi.

Raphinha put the Catalan side in front after only three minutes. Lamine Yamal found the Brazil international on the right, where he took on and beat two defenders before finishing with his left foot to open the scoring.

The early goal gave FC Barcelona a strong start, although Feyenoord attempted to respond and created pressure of their own. Anis Hadj Moussa was the visitors’ most prominent threat, particularly from the right flank, where he repeatedly looked to attack.

Feyenoord’s best opening came in the 37th minute, when Hadj Moussa forced Garcia into action with a right-footed effort. The attempt required an intervention from the Barcelona goalkeeper, keeping the home side’s two-goal lead intact.

FC Barcelona remained dangerous despite Feyenoord’s efforts to get back into the match. Lamine Yamal continued to pose a threat, while Joao Cancelo also tried his luck as the Catalans looked for further openings.

Barcelona doubled their lead in the 22nd minute through Adeyemi. Starting from the left, he moved inside before unleashing a powerful, slightly curled right-footed shot. The effort was placed beyond the reach of the Dutch goalkeeper, giving FC Barcelona a 2-0 advantage.

Feyenoord produced several attacking moves after falling further behind, but the visitors were unable to reduce the deficit before the interval. Barcelona therefore went into half-time with a two-goal cushion in the first match of the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Raphinha’s composed finish had provided the breakthrough, while Adeyemi’s strike gave the Catalan side greater control of the contest. Feyenoord’s attacking response, led in particular by Hadj Moussa, created moments of concern, but FC Barcelona retained their advantage as the teams left the field at the break.
