Botev Plovdiv sign Nigerian winger Ehije Ukaki from Sheff Utd on loan

Nigerian right winger Ehije Ukaki has joined Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv from Sheff Utd on loan, completing a move that takes the 21-year-old from England’s Championship to the efbet Liga.

Ukaki arrives in Plovdiv as a wide attacking player, with his primary position on the right wing. His nationality and age make him one of the younger players moving into Bulgaria’s top flight, while the loan arrangement gives Botev Plovdiv access to a player contracted to an English club without making the transfer permanent.

The move represents a change of footballing environment for Ukaki, who leaves the Championship for a club competing in Bulgaria’s efbet Liga. Botev Plovdiv are based in Plovdiv and will be Ukaki’s club for the duration of the loan agreement, although no end date for the temporary switch has been provided.

Ukaki’s listed market value is €700,000. That figure places the winger among the players whose next stage of development will be followed across two different domestic leagues, with his immediate football now taking place in Bulgaria rather than England.

The transfer also creates a clear link between Sheff Utd and Botev Plovdiv, with Ukaki moving from an English club to a Bulgarian side while remaining attached to his previous team. For Botev, the signing adds a Nigerian wide player to their squad; for Sheff Utd, it gives their 21-year-old winger experience outside the Championship during the temporary spell.

Ukaki completed the move on 8 September 2026, and his new club will compete in the efbet Liga during his time in Bulgaria. He joins Botev Plovdiv as a loan player from Sheff Utd.
