Egypt goalkeeper Gabaski joins Moghreb Tetouan on free transfer

Egypt goalkeeper Gabaski has joined Moroccan club Moghreb Tetouan from Modern Sport on a free transfer, moving to the Botola Pro Inwi side on 8 September 2026.

The 37-year-old has agreed a contract that runs until 30 June 2027. Gabaski, whose full name is Mohamed Abou Gabal, is a 1.96m goalkeeper and becomes part of Moghreb Tetouan’s squad after leaving Modern Sport.

Gabaski spent the 2025-26 season with Modern Sport, having also arrived at that club as a free agent in July 2025 following his departure from Bank El Ahly. His latest move represents a switch from Egypt’s Premier League to Morocco’s top flight.

The goalkeeper returned to Egypt’s domestic game with Bank El Ahly in September 2022 after leaving Zamalek on a free transfer. He had previously enjoyed a successful spell at Zamalek, where he won three Egyptian league titles and two Egyptian Cups, as well as the CAF Super Cup and Egyptian Super Cup in the 2019-20 season.

His honours also include an Egyptian Cup victory with Enppi in the 2010-11 season. Gabaski began his senior career with Enppi before later representing Zamalek and Smouha, establishing a long domestic career across Egyptian football.

At international level, Gabaski represented Egypt and was part of the side that finished as runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations in the 2021-22 campaign. He now takes that experience into a new league and a new footballing country with Moghreb Tetouan.

Gabaski’s current market value is €150,000, while his highest recorded value was €1.5m during his time with Zamalek. Moghreb Tetouan’s move gives the club an experienced Egypt international in the goalkeeper position for the 2026-27 campaign.

Gabaski completed his free transfer from Modern Sport to Moghreb Tetouan on 8 September 2026, with his contract lasting until June 2027.
