Sheffield Wednesday sign Nigeria-Scotland striker Samuel Duruh on a free transfer

Nigeria-Scotland centre-forward Samuel Duruh has joined Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s from Kilmarnock Under-18s on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old completed the move on 8 September 2026, switching from Scotland to England as he begins the next stage of his career with Wednesday’s development side.

Duruh is a right-footed striker who stands 1.85m tall. He has represented both Nigerian and Scottish football during his early career, with his club experience to date coming in the Scottish game.

His time with Kilmarnock Under-18s included two loan spells during the 2025-26 campaign. He joined Albion Rovers on loan in July 2025 before returning to Kilmarnock in October, and moved to Whitletts on a further loan in November. That spell ended on 31 May 2026.

Duruh originally joined Kilmarnock Under-18s from Cumnock, with the move initially structured as a loan in February 2025. He returned to Cumnock temporarily before rejoining Kilmarnock later that year.

His recorded appearances in Scottish competitions include seven Challenge Cup matches, seven Lowland League games and one Scottish Cup tie. The available record covers 439 minutes in the Challenge Cup, 127 minutes in the Lowland League and nine minutes in the Scottish Cup.

At Sheffield Wednesday, Duruh will be part of the Under-21 squad following his departure from Kilmarnock’s youth setup. The move gives the forward a new club in England after his development through academy and loan football in Scotland.

Wednesday Under-21s are the player’s current club, while his previous senior pathway included time with Whitletts and Albion Rovers during temporary spells away from Kilmarnock. His move to Hillsborough was confirmed as a free transfer on 8 September 2026.
