Felix Agu returns to partial Werder Bremen training

Felix Agu has moved closer to his comeback after joining parts of Werder Bremen’s first-team training on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old full-back had been unavailable since late July because of a calf muscle injury, but his partial involvement marks encouraging progress after several weeks away.

Agu was able to complete selected elements of the session with his teammates, giving Bremen an early sign that his rehabilitation is heading in the right direction. However, he has not yet returned to full training and still needs to clear another stage before he can be considered fully match-ready.

The immediate question is whether Agu can make Bremen’s squad for Saturday’s Bundesliga away fixture against FC Koln, scheduled for 18:30 local time. His availability will depend on how his calf responds to the increased workload in the days ahead.

Bremen will be mindful of avoiding an unnecessary setback, particularly after Agu’s prolonged absence. A gradual reintegration remains the most likely route, with the coaching and medical staff expected to assess him daily before making a final call on his involvement.

The defender’s eventual return would strengthen Bremen’s options in wide areas. For now, the priority is completing his recovery safely and turning this first partial group session into a sustained return to regular team training.
