A special exhibition match is set to take place in Polokwane, featuring a selection of Bafana Bafana, the African champions in 1996, and German football legends. The match is organized as a final tribute to Thomas Madigage, the South African assistant coach who passed away two weeks prior to the event.
The Bafana Bafana 11 will be led by former South Africa captain Lucas Radebe, and the team will include notable names such as Mark Fish, David Nyathi, Neil Tovey, and Phil Masinga. The team will be coached by Clive Barker, with assistance from Teenage Dladla.
The German team will consist of players who have achieved success in the World Cup and the European Champions League. Notable names in the German lineup include Dieter Burdenski, who played in the 1978 World Cup, Jorg Heinrich from the 1998 World Cup, and Marko Rehmer, who participated in the 2002 World Cup.
The exhibition match is scheduled to be a curtain-raiser for the championship match between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United. The match format will consist of two halves of 35 minutes each. The event aims to honor Thomas Madigage’s legacy and contributions to South African football.
