Al Ahly midfielder Imam Ashour is available for Wednesday’s Egyptian Premier League match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab, according to the club’s football director Wael Gomaa.
The defending champions travel to face Al Mokawloon in the fourth round of the league season after opening the campaign with three straight wins under new head coach Hussein Ammouta.
Speaking to Yallakora, Gomaa said Al Ahly had no injury concerns ahead of the 20:00 local time kick-off and confirmed that midfielder Marwan Attia had recovered from illness and returned to training.
He also said Ashour was fit to feature, although the final decision on whether he starts rests with Ammouta.
Al Ahly have enjoyed a perfect start to the season, beating Al Sharqia Enppi 3-2, Zed 2-0 and Smouha 1-0.
By contrast, Al Mokawloon, coached by Sami Qumsan, have won just once in their opening three matches, defeating El Gouna 1-0 in their most recent outing.
Gomaa also dismissed reports suggesting Al Ahly had requested to train at the Arab Contractors Stadium before the match, insisting the coaching staff had not discussed such a move.
The stadium has been the subject of debate because of its compact dimensions and pitch conditions, although Al Ahly did train there before facing Ceramica Cleopatra last season, when the sides drew 1-1.
