Renowned sports commentator Ahmed Shobier has delivered a series of impassioned messages to Hossam Hassan, following his appointment as the new head coach of the Egyptian national team, replacing the Portuguese coach Roy Vitoria, who was dismissed due to poor results.
Speaking on ON Time Sports TV channel, Shobier stated, “I’ll be very clear. Does Hossam Hassan make mistakes? Absolutely, he’s human.
But he doesn’t like anyone telling him he’s wrong. The problem is that he’s convinced he’s always right.
You’re making mistakes, but you’re now in a completely different stage.
You’re the coach of the Egyptian national team, along with Ibrahim Hassan. You are the managers of Egypt.”
Shobier urged them to turn over a new leaf, saying, “Turn over a new page and start a new chapter for yourselves.
If you want to continue in this career, throw away the old pages with mistakes behind your backs.
Deal with the fact that you’re leading the Egyptian national team, the mother of the world. You have to know that.”
Addressing the need for accountability, Shobier emphasized, “There’s no room for mercy in penalties.
We have a lot of thoughts, but making a mistake during a match is different.
You need to rethink everything from start to finish and avoid favoritism towards players because the club is one thing and the national team is another.
I’m speaking very clearly here. You’re dealing with (the most knowledgeable people in football) in the national team.”
He continued, “The way you interact in the dressing rooms and during matches has to change.
A truthful word must be spoken because we are entering a new phase.”
Shobier concluded with a supportive tone, saying, “Hossam Hassan, you’re capable of emulating Mahmoud El-Gohary’s experience.
It’s crucial that the coach is a star, especially if he’s a good coach. No one will speak to you as frankly as I do, Captain Hossam.
I’m well aware that you’re furious with me, but it’s my duty to support and be honest with you.
We must support, assist, and encourage each other. When you make a mistake, we’ll tell you that you’re wrong.
No one is infallible, my spiritual father, Captain El-Gohary, used to make mistakes.
We all make mistakes, but what matters most is that I support you.”
