Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the Premier League.

Sanches, 29, left Paris St-Germain on 1 September after returning from a loan spell at Panathinaikos. He made no appearances in Ligue 1 this season before becoming unattached.

The central midfielder spent the 2025-26 campaign with Panathinaikos on loan from PSG, having previously spent the 2024-25 season at Benfica. His time in Paris was interrupted by successive loan moves, with Roma also taking him for the 2023-24 campaign.

Sanches joined PSG from Lille in August 2022 in a move valued at €15m. His current market value is listed at €2m, although there is no indication of a proposed fee or contract terms in connection with the reported Chelsea interest.

The former Benfica and Bayern Munich player won the European Championship with Portugal in 2016 and was named the Golden Boy that year. He has also won domestic league titles in Portugal, Germany and France.

Chelsea have been linked with Sanches as he considers his next club, but the rumour remains unconfirmed. He is currently without a club and has no recorded appearances in the opening Ligue 1 fixtures of the 2026-27 season.
