Siwelele suspend Seema and Jackson after winless start

Siwelele FC have suspended head coach Lehlohonolo Seema and assistant coach Willem Jackson after a difficult opening to the 2026/27 campaign, with the club’s latest setback a 3-2 defeat by Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

The changes were confirmed by the club on Monday after management reviewed the team’s results. In a statement, Siwelele said Seema and Jackson had been “relieved of their first-team duties”.

The move is understood to amount to a suspension for the coaching pair, who have overseen a poor run of form at the beginning of the new season.

Siwelele are still waiting for their first league victory after five matches. They have collected only two points from a possible 15, recording two draws and three defeats, and are positioned at the bottom end of the log table.

The decision followed Sunday’s narrow loss to Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium. Despite scoring twice, Siwelele were unable to claim a result, extending a sequence which has left the club under immediate pressure.

Chairman Calvin le John said the club’s supporters “deserve better” than the performances produced by the team so far this season.

The coaching changes come after Seema had spoken about the demanding circumstances facing his squad. He pointed to a major rebuilding process during the close season, with Siwelele having released 25 players before the start of the new campaign.

A significant number of the current squad also have limited Premiership experience, adding to the challenges faced by the technical team during the transition.

Mosoetsa to take charge against Sundowns

Caretaker coach Godfrey Mosoetsa will take over on an interim basis, with Siwelele’s next match coming just days after the defeat by Kaizer Chiefs.

The club must now prepare for a difficult away fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria. The league match is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Siwelele will be hoping the change in the technical department can provide an immediate response, although they face one of the toughest assignments in the league against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The match will be the first test of Mosoetsa’s interim spell and comes with Siwelele still searching for their first win of the season. Their two points from five games leave little room for further setbacks as they attempt to move away from the bottom end of the standings.
