Merveille Biankadi joins Heilbronn-Frei. as free agent
German-Congolese winger Merveille Biankadi has joined Heilbronn-Frei. as a free agent after leaving Energie Cottbus earlier this summer.
The 31-year-old right winger completed the move on 7 September and will play in the Regionalliga Sudwest. No transfer fee was involved in the move.
Biankadi spent the 2025-26 season with Energie Cottbus after joining the club in September 2025. He became a free agent on 1 July before moving to Heilbronn-Frei., who have added a player with extensive experience in Germany’s professional leagues.
He has made 226 appearances in the 3. Liga, scoring 41 goals and providing 34 assists. Biankadi has also played in the 2. Bundesliga, making six appearances in the competition during his career.
His most recent spell before Cottbus came with Arminia Bielefeld, whom he joined on a free transfer from 1. FC Heidenheim in July 2023. During his time with Bielefeld, he was part of the side that won the German third tier in the 2024-25 season and finished as runners-up in the German Cup. He also helped the club win the Westphalia Cup twice.
Biankadi joined Heidenheim from Hansa Rostock in July 2019 in a €750,000 transfer. He later had a loan spell with Eintracht Braunschweig during the 2019-20 season and spent the first half of 2021 with 1860 Munich on loan.
The winger began his senior career with SV Elversberg, having progressed through youth football with Bayern Munich and FC Augsburg. He won the Regionalliga Sudwest with Elversberg in the 2016-17 campaign and also lifted the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Cup with Hansa Rostock in 2018-19.
Biankadi, who is 1.84m tall and can use either foot, now begins his latest chapter with Heilbronn-Frei. in the Regionalliga Sudwest.
