Betway Premiership: Chippa United and Sekhukhune United held to goalless draws

Two Betway Premiership matches on Saturday ended without a goal, with Chippa United held at home by newly promoted Milford FC before Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy also played out a goalless draw.

Chippa United were unable to make home advantage count as they were held 0-0 by Milford FC at Buffalo City Stadium in East London.

The result will be frustrating for the Chilli Boys, who created opportunities and repeatedly committed players forward in search of a winning goal. Milford were similarly prepared to attack, but both sides were undermined by inaccurate or ineffective play in the final third.

Azola Tshobeni came closest to opening the scoring for the home team when he directed an effort on target. However, Milford goalkeeper Lungile Nkosi reacted quickly to make an important save and keep the newly promoted side level.

Milford grew into the contest as the first half approached its conclusion and began to pose a greater threat to the Chippa defence. Their attempts to break the deadlock were kept out by Chippa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who ensured the match remained scoreless.

Neither side could find the decisive moment after the interval, leaving the teams to settle for a point each.

Chippa United will be back at home next weekend when they face Mamelodi Sundowns. Milford FC will also have home advantage when they play Richards Bay.

Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy share the points

There was another goalless outcome at Peter Mokaba Stadium, where Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy could not produce a winner in their Betway Premiership meeting.

TS Galaxy, known as the Rockets, created the clearest opening of the first half. Mpho Mvelase found himself in a position to lift the ball over the advancing Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi, but he was unable to execute the attempt successfully.

The hosts produced a stronger performance after the break and applied greater pressure as they looked to claim all three points.

Lehlohonolo Mojela and Mokibelo Ramabu made a significant impact after being introduced from the bench, helping Sekhukhune United improve in the second half. Despite that increased influence and a more positive showing from the home side, it did not lead to a goal.

The result means both matches played on Saturday finished with the same 0-0 scoreline, with Chippa United, Milford FC, Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy all taking a single point from their respective encounters.
