Nigeria midfielder Samson Tijani starts Podbrezova loan spell after Dukla Prague switch

Nigeria midfielder Samson Tijani has joined Slovakian club Podbrezova on loan from Dukla Prague.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder completed the move on 5 September 2026 and will remain with Podbrezova until 30 June 2027. The transfer takes him from the Czech Republic’s ChNL to Slovakia’s Nike Liga.

Tijani arrives at Podbrezova after making three appearances for Dukla Prague during the 2026-27 campaign. He has played twice in the ChNL and once in the MOL Cup, although he has not scored or registered an assist.

The Enugu-born player joined Dukla Prague from Salzburg on a free transfer on 1 July 2025. He made 16 appearances for Fredrikstad FK during a loan spell in the 2024 season, helping the Norwegian club win the national cup.

Tijani’s move to Podbrezova is the latest in a series of transfers involving clubs in Austria, Norway and the Czech Republic. He spent time on loan with Wolfsberger AC, TSV Hartberg and FC Liefering after joining Salzburg, before returning to the Austrian club at the end of each spell.

He was part of the Salzburg side that won the Austrian league and cup double in the 2021-22 season. Tijani also joined Salzburg from Nigerian club Collins Edwin in July 2020 for a fee of €1m.

The right-footed midfielder, who is 1.78 metres tall, has a market value of €375,000. His new club will now have him available for domestic competition in Slovakia during the loan period.

Podbrezova’s agreement with Dukla Prague includes a defined return date, with Tijani scheduled to go back to the Czech club when the loan ends on 30 June 2027.

Samson Tijani has therefore completed his temporary move from Dukla Prague to Podbrezova.
