Mehdi Louafi joins Wydad Fes as Morocco midfielder switches on free transfer
Morocco attacking midfielder Mehdi Louafi has joined Wydad Fes from Ait Melloul on a free transfer, giving the club a new option in the centre of the pitch.
The 22-year-old completed the move on 4 September 2026 and has signed a contract with Wydad Fes running until 30 June 2028. Louafi is right-footed and primarily operates as an attacking midfielder.
Louafi moves to Wydad Fes after spending the second half of the 2025-26 season with Ait Melloul. He joined that club from WAC Reserve on 30 January 2026, also on a free transfer.
During his time with Ait Melloul, Louafi featured in two Excellence Cup matches and played 146 minutes. Those appearances came during a spell that preceded his move to Wydad Fes at the start of the 2026-27 season.
The Casablanca-born player began his senior club career with CR Bernoussi, joining from Wydad AC Under-19s in July 2022. He then moved to WAC Reserve in January 2023 before making the switch to Ait Melloul three years later.
Louafi’s move keeps him in Moroccan football while taking him to Wydad Fes, the latest club in a progression that has included academy football, reserve-team experience and senior appearances. His playing profile gives the club a midfielder who can be used in an advanced central role.
The transfer was completed without a fee, and Louafi is under contract at Wydad Fes until the end of June 2028.
