Kryvbas add Tanzania striker Cyprian Kachwele on free transfer

Tanzania forward Cyprian Kachwele has joined Ukrainian Premier Liga side Kryvbas from Whitecaps 2 on a free transfer. The 21-year-old centre-forward has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2030.

Kachwele moves to Kryvbas after returning to Whitecaps 2 from a loan spell with HFX Wanderers. His period with the Canadian club ended on 3 September, one day before he completed his switch to Ukraine.

The striker made 15 appearances in the Canadian Premier League during the 2025-26 campaign, scoring twice. He had previously featured for Whitecaps 2 in MLS Next Pro, where he recorded 11 goals and two assists in 38 appearances.

Kachwele joined Whitecaps 2 from Tanzanian club Azam FC in November 2023. He spent the 2024 season with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, winning the Canadian Cup with the club, before continuing his development with Whitecaps 2.

Standing at 1.90 metres and preferring his right foot, Kachwele gives Kryvbas a centre-forward who has played in both the MLS Next Pro and Canadian Premier League. His move also marks a step into European football after his time in North America and Tanzania.

The transfer was completed without a fee, with Kachwele’s listed market value standing at €150,000. He becomes a Kryvbas player through the end of the 2029-30 season, with the club registering him as a forward for its Premier Liga campaign.

Kachwele’s move follows a sequence of changes in his club career over the past year. He joined HFX Wanderers on loan from Whitecaps 2 in March 2026, returned to his parent club in September, and then departed Canada for Kryvbas.

The Tanzanian striker has now formally completed his free transfer to Kryvbas, where his contract is scheduled to run until June 2030.
