Eintracht Frankfurt’s new centre-back Lilian Brassier has earned strong backing from head coach Adi Hutter after arriving from Stade Rennes.

The French defender, who has joined the Bundesliga side this summer, brings qualities Hütter believes will strengthen Frankfurt’s backline.

“I am very pleased that we have brought in a player from Ligue 1 with Brassier whom I know very well,” Hutter said. The coach revealed Frankfurt had monitored Brassier even during his own time at Monaco, highlighting his duel strength and left foot as key attributes.

Hutter also praised Brassier’s mentality. “He is the type who never gives up and is a warrior. That is very good for our team,” he added.

While Brassier is expected to play an important role soon, Hutter has not guaranteed an immediate start. Young Jeremiaha Maluze impressed in the recent victory over Union Berlin, keeping selection options open.

“Against Berlin we played with a back four in which Maluze, Kosugi and Baum started for the first time. They all deserve credit, including Maluze, who did really well in my eyes,” Hutter said.

The coach confirmed Brassier completed pre-season in Rennes and is training well. “He is certainly capable of starting immediately. We will see how it looks with Brassier in the end,” Hutter concluded.
