Guela Doue out for Bayer Leverkusen against Union Berlin
Bayer Leverkusen right-back Guela Doue will miss Saturday’s Bundesliga home match against Union Berlin due to minor physical complaints.
The new signing, who joined Leverkusen this summer, is still adapting to his new surroundings and will not be considered for selection despite training lightly with the squad on Friday.
Head coach Carles Martinez confirmed Doue’s absence during his pre-match press conference, explaining that the timing is simply too soon for the defender to feature. “Doue has a minor issue. He’s not ready for the squad tomorrow,” Martinez said.
Although Doue will take part in a light training session, the match comes too early in his recovery process. The coaching staff are taking a cautious approach to avoid aggravating the issue, prioritising his long-term availability over a rushed return.
Martinez expects Doue’s problems to be resolved within the week, suggesting he could be back in contention for future fixtures once fully fit. The defender’s absence leaves Leverkusen to explore other options on the right flank against Union.
