Yassine Benhattab swaps Nantes for Montpellier in Ligue 2 move
France-Algeria winger Yassine Benhattab has joined Montpellier from FC Nantes, adding a 23-year-old right-sided attacker to the Ligue 2 club’s squad. The Marseille-born player, who operates primarily on the right wing, made the move on 4 September 2026.
Benhattab is left-footed and stands 1.70m tall. He arrives at Montpellier after a spell with Nantes, where he had been registered since returning from a loan at Stade Reims at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
The winger joined Reims on loan in January 2026 and returned to Nantes when that spell ended on 30 June. Before moving to Reims, he had spent the 2024-25 season with Aubagne FC on loan.
Benhattab first joined Nantes from Aubagne in August 2024. His route to senior football also included time with Niort’s youth and reserve teams, before he left the club in 2022. He later joined Aubagne and was part of a side that won the French fourth tier.
His arrival gives Montpellier a player with experience across several levels of the French game, while keeping him in Ligue 2 following his recent spells with Nantes and Reims. The move also represents the latest step in a career that has included both permanent changes of club and temporary loan periods.
Benhattab has signed a contract with Montpellier that runs until 30 June 2029.
