Tochukwu Nnadi sidelined with injury

Marseille midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi is facing a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury, with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) problem reportedly suspected.

The Nigerian midfielder came on at half-time but was unable to complete the match after being forced off with what appeared to be a significant knee problem.

Initial fears immediately centred on an ACL injury, and the seriousness of the problem has since raised concerns within the Marseille camp.

Speaking to La Provence, Nnadi’s agent revealed that several medical consultants advised the midfielder to undergo immediate surgery following the injury.

However, despite the recommendations, Nnadi has decided against undergoing surgery for now in an attempt to accelerate his return to action.

The decision comes with considerable risks, something the player and his representatives are understood to be fully aware of.

“We are aware of the risks. We know that he could feel pain. We know that it won’t be easy, but it is Nnadi’s decision,” his agent told La Provence.

The agent also explained that Nnadi was determined to remain available to Marseille despite the seriousness of the situation, insisting that the midfielder “could not abandon OM at such a time.”

Nnadi’s decision highlights his desire to help Marseille during a period when the club is already dealing with limited options in midfield.

The Nigerian has quickly become an important part of the squad, making his injury particularly concerning for the French club as the season progresses.

While the exact extent of the injury and the midfielder’s eventual recovery timeline will depend on further medical assessments, the suspicion of an ACL problem could represent a major setback.

An ACL injury would normally require a lengthy rehabilitation period, potentially ruling the player out for several months.

For now, Nnadi and Marseille will hope that the decision to avoid immediate surgery can allow him to return sooner than initially feared, although the risks involved mean his recovery will need to be carefully monitored.

The midfielder’s determination to continue helping Marseille has been clear, but his health and long-term career will remain the priority as the club assesses the best way forward.
