Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo backs Marcus Rashford for Old Trafford revival after Barcelona boost

Bryan Mbeumo believes Marcus Rashford has everything needed to make a major impact at Manchester United following his return to Old Trafford.

Rashford ended his lengthy absence from his boyhood club after returning to competitive action in United’s opening-day 2-0 defeat to Hull City, marking his first appearance for the Red Devils in more than a year.

The England international’s comeback has generated renewed optimism over his future at United, particularly after an impressive spell with Barcelona that saw him rediscover his attacking form.

Mbeumo, who has now welcomed Rashford back into the United squad, believes the forward’s quality can make a significant difference to Ruben Amorim’s side.

“It’s really good to have him back. We know his quality and impact for the club. He looks happy to be with us. Everyone is really part of the good links and he’s part of this,” Mbeumo told Sky Sports.

Rashford arrives with Barcelona pedigree

The 28-year-old returns to Manchester having spent the previous campaign with Barcelona, where he enjoyed one of the most productive periods of his recent career.

Rashford registered 14 goals and 15 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for the Catalan giants, providing a consistent attacking threat during his time at the club.

His contribution also came as Barcelona enjoyed domestic success, with the Blaugrana winning La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana.

That form has raised expectations that Rashford can carry his improved confidence and sharpness into his second spell under Amorim and rediscover the level that once made him one of United’s most important attacking players.

Mbeumo sees quality United can exploit

Mbeumo’s comments underline the belief within the United camp that Rashford can still play a decisive role despite his difficult spell before leaving the club.
