Moroccan football united in grief following death of Mohammed Rahimi

Condolences have poured in from across Moroccan and African football following the death of Mohammed Rahimi, father of footballers Soufiane and Hussein Rahimi.

Mohammed Rahimi, widely known as Haj Al-Yawari, passed away, prompting messages of support for his family from prominent figures and institutions within the football community.

Among those to offer condolences was Walid Regragui, the former coach of Morocco’s national team.

Football community offers support

The Moroccan Professional Football League also expressed its condolences to the Rahimi family.

Raja Casablanca, where the Rahimi brothers began their football journey, joined in paying tribute to the family of the deceased.

Al Ain FC, the UAE club associated with Soufiane and Hussein Rahimi, also offered its support and condolences during the difficult period.

The messages reflected the standing of the Rahimi family within Moroccan football, with the brothers having become prominent figures in the game.

Funeral planned for Friday

Mohammed Rahimi is expected to be laid to rest on Friday following the noon prayer.

The burial is scheduled to take place at one of the cemeteries in Dar Bouazza.

The death has brought together members of Morocco’s football community in mourning, with tributes continuing to arrive for the father of two of the country’s well-known footballers.
