Esperance consider move for COD Meknes defender Karim El Bounagate

Morocco centre-back Karim El Bounagate is the subject of reported interest from Esperance, who are considering a move for the 25-year-old COD Meknes defender.

The proposed switch would take El Bounagate from Morocco’s Botola Pro Inwi to Ligue 1, with the Tunisian club linked with a deal on 3 September.

El Bounagate joined COD Meknes on 1 July 2025 after leaving Al-Sadaqa SC as a free agent. He has previously played for OC Safi, Oum Salal? Noavoid. Keep direct.

The left-footed defender has made 83 appearances in the Botola Pro Inwi during his career, scoring twice. He has also played 13 times in the Libyan Premier League and provided one assist.

El Bounagate’s recorded market value is €450,000, although no transfer fee has been reported in connection with the rumoured move. He remains a COD Meknes player, and the proposed transfer has not been confirmed by either club.

He began his senior career with OCS Reserve before establishing himself in Moroccan football, later spending time with OC Safi and O. Khouribga. His most recent change of club came when he moved from Al-Sadaqa to COD Meknes last summer.

For now, El Bounagate’s status remains unchanged, with the defender under contract at COD Meknes and Esperance’s reported interest yet to develop into a confirmed transfer.
