Zamalek’s defender, Mahmoud Hamdi Al-Wensh, has suffered a partial tear in his cruciate ligament after sustaining an injury during training two days ago, dealing a blow to the Egyptian club.
Dr. Mohamed Osama, Zamalek’s team doctor, confirmed Al-Wensh’s cruciate ligament injury following medical examinations.
The club will now outline his treatment plan for the upcoming period.
“In light of the diagnosis, Zamalek’s board, led by Chairman Hussein Labib, has decided to send Al-Wensh to Germany for cruciate ligament surgery and further treatment,” Osama added.
This setback marks a recurrence of Al-Wensh’s cruciate ligament injury, which he had previously recovered from after a lengthy period.
However, he now faces another spell on the sidelines, expected to last several months.
In response to Al-Wensh’s injury, Zamalek moved swiftly to bolster their defensive line.
They recently secured the signing of Palestinian defender Yasser Hamad to strengthen their squad, especially in light of Al-Wensh’s anticipated absence.
The recurrence of Al-Wensh’s injury is a significant blow to Zamalek, as the defender plays a pivotal role in the team’s defensive setup.
His absence will undoubtedly be felt, requiring Zamalek to adjust their defensive strategy in his absence.
Zamalek supporters will be anxiously awaiting updates on Al-Wensh’s recovery process and eagerly anticipating his return to action.
Meanwhile, the club will be hoping for a successful surgery and rehabilitation period for the defender as they strive to maintain their competitive edge in domestic and continental competitions.
