Senzo Mbatha appointed deputy director of Tuks Sport

Senzo Mbatha has been appointed Deputy Director: Sports Operations Management at the University of Pretoria’s Tuks Sport, adding an experienced football administrator to the institution’s sports leadership structure.

Mbatha, who was formerly known as Mazingisa, has held senior administrative and management positions in both South Africa and Tanzania. His new position will focus on the operations management of Tuks Sport and will involve working across the university’s different sporting codes.

Tuks Sport confirmed the appointment in a social media announcement, welcoming Mbatha and highlighting the experience he is expected to bring to the role.

The appointment gives Tuks Sport access to an administrator with experience at several prominent football organisations and competitions in the two countries.

Mbatha has previously worked with Orlando Pirates, the Premier Soccer League and Platinum Stars in South Africa. His experience also includes senior roles with Simba SC, Yanga SC and the Tanzania Premier League.

Those positions have given Mbatha a broad administrative background within professional football, spanning clubs, league structures and wider sporting management responsibilities. Tuks Sport said that his expertise would be valuable beyond football, with the university responsible for activities across a range of sporting codes.

His record in management and leadership is expected to support the institution’s continued efforts to elevate its sports operations. The University of Pretoria’s announcement described the appointment in terms of the contribution Mbatha can make through his experience, leadership and knowledge of sports administration.

The role of Deputy Director: Sports Operations Management places Mbatha within the administrative framework responsible for Tuks Sport. It represents his latest move after serving football organisations in South Africa and Tanzania.

Although Mbatha is widely associated with football administration, his new responsibilities at the University of Pretoria extend across Tuks Sport’s different sporting disciplines. That wider remit is where his experience in managing clubs, league bodies and football operations will be applied.
