Ghana’s Amankwah Forson begins Israeli chapter with H. Beer Sheva

Ghana midfielder Amankwah Forson has joined H. Beer Sheva from Norwich on loan, with the move taking the 23-year-old into Israel’s Ligat ha’Al.

The central midfielder’s loan runs until 30 June 2027. Forson signed for Norwich from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg in August 2024 for €4.5m, and now switches from the English Championship to a new league and country.

Forson, who was born in Accra, is a left-footed midfielder standing 1.73m tall. He came through the Salzburg system and was part of the club’s Austrian championship-winning squads in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Before establishing himself at Salzburg, Forson spent time on loan with FC Liefering and SCR Altach. He joined FC Liefering in February 2021 before returning to Salzburg in June 2022, then moved to SCR Altach on loan the following month. That spell ended in December 2022.

His first senior move came from Ghanaian club WAFA SC to Salzburg in February 2021. Forson had previously joined WAFA SC from an unrecorded earlier club in August 2018 on a free transfer.

The move to H. Beer Sheva gives Forson a fresh opportunity after his spell in England. His transfer follows two seasons with Norwich after his arrival from Salzburg, where he had won domestic honours at senior and youth level.

H. Beer Sheva’s new signing has a contract with the Israeli club through June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Norwich at the end of the loan. Forson joins the club without a recorded appearance in the 2026-27 Ligat ha’Al campaign, with the transfer completed on 2 September 2026.

He now becomes part of H. Beer Sheva’s squad for the remainder of the season as the Ghana international begins his latest chapter away from Norwich.
