Baba Haruna joins FC Honka after 21-goal Finnish season

Ghanaian centre-forward Baba Haruna has joined FC Honka from Atlantis FC on a free transfer, completing his move to the Finnish club on 2 September 2026.

The 23-year-old has agreed a contract running until 31 December 2027. He moves from Atlantis after making the switch to the club from FC Jazz on a free transfer at the start of February.

Haruna scored 21 goals in 16 appearances across Kakkonen Group A and the Suomen Cup during the 2026 season. He registered 18 goals in 15 league appearances and added three goals in one Finnish Cup match.

His league record included 1,350 minutes of action, with a goal every 75 minutes. Haruna also made one appearance in Kolmonen Etela Group B during the campaign, although he did not score in that competition.

The Ghanaian joins FC Honka as the club prepares to compete in Kakkonen Group B. His previous campaign came in Kakkonen Group A with Atlantis, giving him experience in the same level of Finnish football while moving into a different section of the competition.

Haruna is listed as a centre-forward, stands 1.86m tall and favours his left foot. He was born in Wungu, Ghana, on 8 October 2002.

Before joining Atlantis, Haruna spent the opening part of 2025-26 with FC Jazz, having previously moved there from SalPa on a free transfer in January 2025. His time at SalPa followed a loan spell with Tampere United, where he played during the 2024-25 season before returning to his parent club at the end of December 2024.

That loan was preceded by Haruna’s move from FC Honka II to SalPa in January 2024. His latest transfer therefore brings him back into the FC Honka set-up, this time joining the senior club after his spell with Atlantis.

Haruna’s 2026 figures provide the clearest measure of his contribution before the move: he scored in both league and cup competition and recorded 18 goals in 15 Kakkonen Group A appearances. He now continues his career with FC Honka under a contract that expires at the end of 2027.
