Hull City complete €8.75m signing of Wales winger Sorba Thomas from Stoke City

Wales and Sierra Leone winger Sorba Thomas has joined Hull City from Stoke City for €8.75m, completing a move to the Premier League club on a contract running until 30 June 2030.

The 27-year-old left winger switches clubs after one season with Stoke, who he joined from Huddersfield in July 2025. Thomas has signed for Hull on the 1 September 2026 transfer date, with the deal making him part of the club’s Premier League squad.

Thomas has started all five of Hull’s matches recorded this season, featuring in three Championship games and two EFL Cup ties. He has contributed two assists in the EFL Cup, while appearing for the full available minutes in both competitions.

The London-born player, who stands 1.85m tall and is naturally right-footed, began his senior career with Boreham Wood after coming through the club’s Under-19 side. He also spent a short period with Cheshunt on loan during the 2017-18 season.

Thomas moved to Huddersfield in January 2021 and later added loan spells with Blackburn during the 2022-23 campaign and French club Nantes in 2024-25. He returned to Huddersfield from Nantes at the end of that loan before making his move to Stoke.

His transfer to Hull represents a significant step up in club level, with the Tigers competing in the Premier League and Stoke operating in the Championship at the time of the move. Thomas’s previous club valued him at €14m, while Hull secured his services for €8.75m.

The winger’s record for the opening part of the campaign includes three appearances in the Championship without a goal or assist and two EFL Cup appearances, in which he supplied two assists. He has also received one yellow card in league competition.

Thomas is eligible to represent Wales and Sierra Leone, and his arrival gives Hull another wide attacking option as they compete in England’s top division. He has joined the club following a career that has taken him from non-league football and youth development at Boreham Wood to regular involvement in the English professional game.
