Rosaire Longelo: England and DR Congo full-back joins Notts County from Salford

Rosaire Longelo, the England and DR Congo left-back, has joined Notts County from Salford, strengthening the League One club’s defensive options. The 26-year-old completed the move on 1 September 2026 and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2029.

Longelo arrives after spending the second half of the 2024-25 campaign with Salford, having moved there from Swindon Town on 17 January 2025. His switch to Notts County represents a move up from League Two to League One, with the defender now beginning a new chapter at Meadow Lane.

The left-back started his time at Swindon after joining the club from Accrington in July 2024. That move was completed as a free transfer, bringing an end to his spell with Accrington, where he had arrived from Newcastle United’s under-23 side in January 2022.

Longelo began his senior pathway with Newcastle’s development group after leaving West Ham’s under-18s in August 2018. The move to Newcastle was also completed as a free transfer. His career has therefore included spells across the English professional and academy systems before his arrival at Notts County.

Born in Kinshasa, Longelo holds English and Democratic Republic of Congo nationality. He stands 1.83m tall and operates primarily on the left side of defence, with his preferred foot also left. Those details give Notts County an established specialist in the full-back position as they prepare for the 2026-27 League One campaign.

Longelo has been registered with Notts County as of 1 September. His arrival follows a season in which he was most recently associated with Salford, while his earlier clubs included Swindon Town, Accrington, Newcastle United Under-23s and West Ham Under-18s.

The defender joins a Notts County squad competing in League One after Salford’s previous League Two campaign, completing his latest move within the English league structure. Longelo’s new contract with Notts County runs until 30 June 2029.
