Mostafa Mohamed takes famous celebration to Konyaspor after Nantes departure

Mostafa Mohamed has joined Konyaspor on a three-year contract after leaving Nantes, with the Egypt striker set to wear the number 42 shirt for the Turkish club.

The celebration reflects Mohamed’s connection with Zamalek, where he previously played before moving abroad. Konyaspor used the image to introduce their new signing, accompanied by a bow-and-arrow emoji, an hourglass and the number 42.

Mohamed will wear number 42 for Konyaspor, who wished him success during his time with the club. The announcement did not include further details about the financial terms of the transfer.

The move represents a return to Turkish football for Mohamed. He previously played in the country with Galatasaray in 2021, giving him experience of the league and its clubs before his latest transfer.

He will also be joined in the Turkish top flight by fellow Egypt international Mohamed Salah. The former Liverpool forward moved to Trabzonspor this summer, meaning two prominent Egyptian attackers will now be playing in the same league.

Mohamed began his professional career with El Dakhleya in Egypt. He later represented Zamalek, Tanta and Tala’ea El Gaish before moving into European football.

His first Turkish experience came with Galatasaray, after which he continued his career with Nantes in France. His departure from the Ligue 1 club followed the dispute mentioned in the announcement of his Konyaspor transfer.

Konyaspor’s presentation of Mohamed focused on his established identity as an Egypt international and on the celebration that links him to Zamalek. The club will now look to the striker as part of its squad after agreeing a three-year deal.
