Ghanaian defender Yussif Owusu joins Spanish side CE Sabadell until 2029

Spanish Segunda side CE Sabadell have completed the signing of Ghanaian youngster Yussif Owusu from the Brighton & Hove Albion academy.

The 20-year-old defender has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Sabadell until the summer of 2029, with the club confirming the deal on Tuesday.

Owusu becomes the latest Ghanaian youngster to pursue his development in European football after several seasons within the English academy system.

The Spanish club highlighted the youngster’s physical qualities and potential after completing the agreement.

“The Sabadell Sports Center and footballer Yussif Owusu have reached an agreement for the player to join the Harlequin team until 2029.

“Yussif Owusu stands out for his youth, his power and his physical ability. Welcome, Yussif,” the club said in their statement.

Owusu was born in England but has spent recent years developing within the youth structure of Premier League club Brighton.

Experience with Brighton and Chelsea

Despite his age, Owusu has already gained experience at different levels of Brighton’s academy, featuring for both their Under-18 and Under-21 sides.

His time in England has exposed him to some of the country’s main youth competitions and provided a foundation as he now takes the next step in his career in Spain.

Before joining Brighton, Owusu was also part of the Chelsea academy.

The move to Sabadell gives the Ghanaian youngster an opportunity to continue his development in Spanish football, with the three-year agreement providing him with a long-term platform to establish himself in the professional game.
