West Ham Consider Move for Swansea Defender Ben Cabango

Welsh-Angolan centre-back Ben Cabango is being linked with a move from Swansea to West Ham, with the Championship clubs named in a transfer rumour dated 1 September.

Cabango, 26, has been with Swansea’s senior side since July 2019 after progressing through the club’s academy. He signed for Swansea’s under-23 team from The New Saints in January 2019 before making the permanent step into the first team later that year.

The defender has made two Championship appearances for Swansea this season, starting 67% of the club’s possible matches and playing 58% of the available minutes. He also played the full 90 minutes in Swansea’s EFL Cup fixture.

Cabango’s current contract runs until 30 June 2028, meaning any move would require West Ham to negotiate a fee rather than wait for his deal to expire. His current market value is listed at €9m, while his highest recorded valuation has been €13m.

He has remained part of Swansea’s squad at the start of the campaign, with his appearances including one start in the league and a full match in the cup. Cabango’s only recorded senior honour is a Welsh Championship title won with The New Saints during the 2018-19 season.

The reported interest comes with the centre-back tied to Swansea for almost two more seasons.
