Juventus strengthen midfield with Senegal international Pape Matar Sarr on loan

Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has joined Juventus from Tottenham on loan, completing a move to Serie A that runs until 30 June 2027.

The 23-year-old central midfielder becomes a Juventus player after four seasons with Tottenham, where he won the Europa League in the 2024-25 campaign. The transfer was completed on 1 September 2026, with Sarr’s existing deal at Tottenham scheduled to resume when the loan ends.

Sarr made two appearances for Tottenham in the Premier League during the opening part of the 2026-27 season, while he also featured twice for Senegal at the 2026 World Cup. He had not played in Tottenham’s EFL Cup campaign before moving to Italy.

Born in Thiaroye, Senegal, Sarr stands 1.85m tall and is right-footed. He joined Tottenham from French club FC Metz in August 2021 for €16.9m, initially spending the 2021-22 season back at Metz on loan before returning to north London.

At international level, Sarr has been part of a Senegal side that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022. His arrival gives Juventus a Senegal international with experience in both the Premier League and European competition, while adding another central midfield option to the squad.

The move also marks Sarr’s first transfer away from Tottenham since joining the club from Metz. Before his time in France, he played for Senegalese side Generation Foot, from whom he moved to Metz in September 2020.

Sarr’s Juventus contract details list an end date of 30 June 2027, matching the scheduled conclusion of his loan spell. He has now formally switched from Tottenham to Juventus for the 2026-27 season.
