West Ham seek Anass Salah-Eddine deal after Diouf’s €40m Brentford move

West Ham United have asked AS Roma about signing Morocco international Anass Salah-Eddine on loan before the end of the transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The Championship club are considering the 24-year-old left-back as a replacement for El Hadji Malick Diouf, who joined Brentford last week in a deal worth €40m.

West Ham have submitted a loan proposal to AS Roma as they look to strengthen the position following Diouf’s departure. The approach remains at the enquiry stage, with no final agreement reported between the two clubs.

Salah-Eddine spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven after moving temporarily from AS Roma. The Dutch club were understood to be interested in keeping him for a longer period, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement over an extension.

His future had also been linked with a move to Olympiakos last month. AS Roma were reportedly able to reach an agreement with the Greek club, but Salah-Eddine himself was said to have shown no interest in the proposal.

The Morocco international could now continue his career in the Championship if West Ham’s move progresses. The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the London club had formally requested a loan deal from AS Roma.

Salah-Eddine remains under contract with the Italian club until the middle of 2028. AS Roma signed him from FC Twente about a year and a half ago for more than €8m.

West Ham’s interest follows the sale of Diouf to Brentford, which left the club needing a replacement at full-back. Diouf’s transfer was completed last week for a substantial €40m fee, and Salah-Eddine has emerged as the player being considered to fill the vacancy.

The proposed move would give Salah-Eddine another opportunity to establish himself after his spell with PSV Eindhoven ended without a permanent or extended agreement. It would also represent a return to England for the defender, although any move depends on AS Roma’s response and the terms of a possible loan.

No agreement has yet been confirmed, but West Ham are attempting to bring Salah-Eddine to London before the transfer window closes.
