Moussa Ndiaye set to join Werder Bremen on loan from Anderlecht

Werder Bremen have reached an agreement with Anderlecht to sign Senegalese defender Moussa Ndiaye on loan with an option to buy, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The 24-year-old left-back is now close to completing his move to the German club after being linked with Werder in recent days. The transfer is expected to be officially announced by the Bundesliga side in the coming hours.

Ndiaye remains under contract with Anderlecht until 2028, but his departure from the Belgian club has now been finalized as he prepares for a new spell in Germany.

The defender featured for Anderlecht at the beginning of the season, making appearances in both the Jupiler Pro League and the Europa League play-offs.

Among his appearances were both matches against PAOK, as well as the second leg of Anderlecht’s tie against Hammarby.

His move to Werder Bremen will see him return to German football after spending last season with Schalke 04 in the 2. Bundesliga.

Ndiaye made 14 appearances for Schalke during that spell and contributed two assists. His performances were enough to maintain interest from a number of German clubs despite his time in the second tier.

Werder’s move now gives the Senegalese defender an opportunity to step up to the Bundesliga after his previous experience with Schalke.

The loan agreement includes an option for Werder Bremen to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season. That clause will allow the German club to decide whether to retain Ndiaye on a permanent basis after assessing his performances during his loan spell.

For Ndiaye, the move represents another chapter in his career in Germany after his season with Schalke.

His experience with Anderlecht has also included European competition, with the defender involved in the club’s Europa League play-off campaign at the start of the current season.

Werder Bremen’s agreement with Anderlecht means the next step is the official confirmation of the transfer.

The Senegalese left-back is therefore preparing to leave Anderlecht despite having a contract with the Belgian club running until 2028, with his immediate future now set to be in the Bundesliga.

Werder will have the option to turn the temporary move into a permanent deal once Ndiaye’s loan spell is complete.
