Torino bring in Algeria international Rafik Belghali from Hellas Verona

Algerian-Belgian right-back Rafik Belghali has joined Torino from Hellas Verona on a season-long loan, with the Italian club paying a €1m loan fee.

The 24-year-old has moved to the Serie A side after one season with Verona, who signed him from Belgian club KV Mechelen for €2m in August 2025. Belghali’s loan with Torino runs until 30 June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Hellas Verona.

Belghali, who was born in Leuven, is a right-footed defender standing 1.80m tall. He began his senior career with Lommel SK after progressing through the club’s under-21 side, having previously spent time in the youth systems of PSV, Lierse SK and Zulte Waregem.

He joined KV Mechelen from Lommel in July 2023 for €400,000 and made the move to Verona two years later. His transfer to Torino is the latest step in a career that has taken him from Belgian football into Italy’s professional leagues.

The defender also represented Algeria at the 2026 World Cup, starting all four of the nation’s matches and playing 93% of the available minutes. He scored once during the tournament and arrives in Turin with four international appearances in the competition.

Belghali has not yet made an appearance for Torino in the 2026-27 campaign, with the transfer taking place on 1 September. His arrival gives the club a new option at right-back as they compete in Serie A and the Italy Cup.

The move was completed with Belghali switching from Hellas Verona to Torino on loan for the 2026-27 season.
