Freiburg linked with Lausanne-Sport striker Omar Janneh

Spanish-Gambian forward Omar Janneh has been linked with a move from Lausanne-Sport to Freiburg in the Bundesliga.

Janneh, 20, joined the Swiss club from Atletico Madrileno in January 2026 in a deal worth €2m and has established himself in Lausanne-Sport’s starting line-up at the beginning of the 2026-27 season.

He has made six appearances across the Swiss Super League and Swiss Cup this term, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Janneh started all five of Lausanne-Sport’s league matches and also began their cup tie.

The centre-forward’s performances come as Freiburg are understood to be monitoring his situation, although no transfer has been confirmed and no fee has been reported for a potential move to Germany.

Janneh was born in Lleida and has represented both Spain and The Gambia at international level. He developed in Spain, joining Atletico Madrid’s youth system from Espanyol’s academy before moving to Atletico Madrileno in 2024.

His current contract with Lausanne-Sport runs until 30 June 2030, meaning the Swiss club are not under immediate pressure to sell. Janneh’s current market value is listed at €4m, following his move to Lausanne-Sport for half that amount earlier this year.
