Adam Aznou joins Malaga on loan from Everton in LaLiga switch

Morocco and Spain defender Adam Aznou has joined Malaga from Everton on a season-long loan, completing a move to the LaLiga club until 30 June 2027.

The 20-year-old left-back made the switch on 31 August 2026 after just over a year with Everton, who signed him from Bayern Munich for €9m in July 2025. Aznou’s arrival gives Malaga a left-footed defender for their campaign in Spain’s top flight.

Aznou has made one appearance for Everton this season, playing eight minutes in the EFL Cup. He has not featured in the Premier League and had not started a match for the club before moving to Malaga.

Born in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Aznou holds Moroccan and Spanish nationality. He stands 1.78m tall and prefers to play at left-back, having developed through youth football in Spain before moving to Germany.

Aznou joined Bayern Munich’s academy system from Barcelona’s youth set-up in July 2022, initially moving to Bayern’s under-17 side. He progressed through the club’s under-19 and reserve teams before entering the senior squad in July 2024.

His time at Bayern also included a loan spell at Real Valladolid during the second half of the 2024-25 season. He returned to Bayern at the end of that campaign before making his permanent move to Everton.

The defender has also represented Spain at youth level and won the Torneio Internacional Algarve U17 with Spain Under-17s in 2023. He later became part of Morocco’s senior international set-up, although no international appearances are recorded alongside his current club statistics.

Aznou’s move to Malaga adds another step to a career that has already taken him from Barcelona’s academy to Bayern Munich, Real Valladolid and Everton. The transfer also returns him to Spain, where he was born and began his development as a footballer.

The loan is scheduled to run through the 2026-27 season, with Aznou due to return to Everton on 30 June 2027.
