Morocco midfielder Youssef Ait Bennasser swaps Turkey for RS Berkane
Moroccan midfielder Youssef Ait Bennasser has joined RS Berkane from Kayserispor on a free transfer, bringing a new chapter in the 30-year-old’s career to Morocco.
The defensive midfielder completed the move on 31 August 2026 after leaving Turkish second-tier side Kayserispor. He has agreed a contract with RS Berkane running until 30 June 2028.
Ait Bennasser had joined Kayserispor from Samsunspor on a free transfer in September 2025. He did not make an appearance for the club in the opening four possible games of the 2026-27 1. Lig season before switching to the Botola Pro Inwi side.
The right-footed midfielder began his senior career with AS Nancy-Lorraine, helping the club win the French second tier in the 2015-16 season. He moved to Monaco in July 2016 for €3m and spent the following years gaining experience through loan spells at Nancy, Caen, Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux.
His most recent success in Turkey came with Samsunspor, where he was part of the team that won the Turkish second tier during the 2022-23 season. He had joined Samsunspor from Adanaspor in February 2023, following a free transfer to Adanaspor from Monaco in 2021.
Ait Bennasser’s time at Monaco included a loan move to Bordeaux in the 2019-20 campaign, while his temporary spell at Saint-Etienne came in the second half of the 2018-19 season. His longest early loan was at Caen during 2017-18.
The move to RS Berkane takes the player back to a club in Morocco, one of the two countries listed in his nationality, after several seasons in Turkey and France. Standing 1.84m tall, he offers experience in the defensive midfield position and has previously played in both the French and Turkish second tiers.
Ait Bennasser is now contracted to RS Berkane until 30 June 2028.
