Morocco’s Adam Aznou joins Malaga to continue development in Spain

Morocco international Adam Aznou has joined Spanish club Malaga on loan from Everton for the 2026-27 season as he looks to continue his development in Spain.

The 20-year-old left-back completed his medical before finalising the move, signing his contract in the presence of Malaga sporting director Loren Juarros.

Malaga confirmed the deal on Monday, with Aznou joining their first team while also holding a squad place with Atlético Malagueño.

Aznou returns to Spain

The loan represents a return to Spanish football for Aznou, who previously spent the second half of the 2024-25 season at Real Valladolid.

He made 13 La Liga appearances during that spell, gaining valuable experience in one of Europe’s major leagues.

Aznou began his development at Barcelona, where he spent three years between 2019 and 2022 before moving to Bayern Munich.

Morocco international at 18

Born in Barcelona in 2006, Aznou represented both Spain and Morocco at youth level before choosing to play for the North African country.

He made his senior Morocco debut in 2024 at the age of 18 and has since earned three international caps.

His experience with Bayern also included appearances in the Bundesliga, Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup during the 2024-25 campaign.

Everton spell leads to Malaga move

Following his loan at Valladolid, Aznou completed a permanent move to Everton ahead of the 2025-26 season.

However, with the opportunity for regular football now available at Malaga, the Morocco international will spend the coming campaign back in Spain.

The move is designed to give the young defender further first-team experience while strengthening Malaga’s options at left-back.

Sixth signing for Malaga

Aznou becomes Malaga’s sixth signing of the transfer window.

He follows Calero, Cruz, Dotor, Salinas and Pablo Martínez in joining the Spanish club as they build their squad for the new campaign.

For Aznou, the season-long loan provides another opportunity to gain regular competitive football and continue his development as a Morocco international.
