Nottingham Forest sign Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace to reunite with Oliver Glasner

Nottingham Forest have signed Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Munoz on a three-year contract, with the option of a further season, allowing him to work with former manager Oliver Glasner again.

The 30-year-old Colombia international played a central role in one of the most successful periods in Palace’s history under Glasner. He helped the Eagles win their first major trophy in the FA Cup, followed by the 2025 Community Shield and the Europa Conference League last season.

Munoz made 109 appearances for Palace after joining the club from Genk in January 2024, scoring 11 goals during his time at Selhurst Park.

His move to Nottingham Forest gives Glasner the chance to reunite with a player he knows well as Forest attempt to strengthen their squad after a difficult opening to the Premier League campaign.

Forest began the season with a 1-0 defeat by Leeds and then drew 2-2 with Liverpool. Those results have left them still waiting for their first league win, with Munoz potentially in line to make his debut against Tottenham on Saturday.

The 51-cap Colombia international said he was excited by the opportunity to work with Glasner once more and join a club whose ambitions appealed to him.

“I think that Oliver Glasner is special, I have a very good relationship with him and we did big things together,” Munoz said. “It was an incredibly special period. What he did with our previous club, I have a lot of respect and a lot of admiration for him.”

Munoz also described Forest as a club with a winning mentality, pointing to the expectations held by its leadership, coaching staff and players.

“This is a winning club. I think that when this is the expectation, the mentality, both for the management and the technical team, and for the players, this makes it special.”

He becomes Forest’s second major signing of the period, following the reported £50m arrival of Liam Delap.

Forest chief football officer George Syrianos said Munoz’s experience in both the Premier League and European competition would make him a valuable addition to the squad.

“Daniel has performed strongly in the Premier League and in European competition, and we believe he has the mentality and ambition to make a significant contribution to the club,” Syrianos said.

Munoz’s arrival is also the latest link between Forest and Palace through Glasner, who enjoyed a highly successful spell working with the defender at the London club. Their time together brought Palace the FA Cup, the 2025 Community Shield and the Europa Conference League, as well as establishing Munoz as an important part of the side.

Forest will hope that familiarity can help the Colombia international settle quickly as they seek to improve their early-season results and secure their first Premier League victory.
