AS Roma step up move for German-Ghanaian winger Jamie Leweling with €30m offer

AS Roma have intensified their pursuit of VfB Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling after submitting an improved offer for the Germany international of Ghanaian descent.

According to Bild and Sky Sport, Roma’s latest proposal is worth €30m upfront, with a further €5m available in potential bonuses.

The two clubs are now in concrete negotiations over a permanent transfer, although no agreement has yet been reached.

Roma switch from loan to permanent deal

Stuttgart previously rejected an offer that would have seen Leweling move to Italy on loan before an obligation to buy was activated.

Roma have now changed their approach and are attempting to negotiate a permanent transfer for the 25-year-old.

Stuttgart will have to decide whether the improved financial package is sufficient to part with one of their key attacking players.

Leweling wants European football

Leweling has yet to make a final decision on his future but is understood to be open to leaving Stuttgart.

The Germany international is keen to play European football again next season, something Roma could offer if the transfer goes through.

However, remaining at Stuttgart has not been ruled out, leaving the player’s future unresolved as negotiations continue.

Roma are not the only clubs monitoring Leweling’s situation.

Premier League sides Everton and Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the winger, potentially creating further competition for his signature.
