Bologna secure Jay Enem after striker’s trophy-winning Red Star spell

Netherlands-Nigeria centre-forward Jay Enem has joined Bologna from Red Star Belgrade in a €6m transfer, giving the Serie A club a new attacking option ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract with Bologna running until 30 June 2030. Enem, who was born in Amsterdam and is eligible to represent both the Netherlands and Nigeria, moves to Italy after a brief spell with Serbian champions Red Star.

Enem joined Red Star from OFK Beograd in July 2026 for €2m, following a loan period at the Belgrade club during the second half of the previous season. He helped Red Star win the Serbian league and Serbian Cup in 2025-26.

The 1.95m striker had made six appearances for Red Star in the opening stages of the 2026-27 season before moving to Bologna. He scored once in two Super liga Srbije appearances and supplied one assist across two Europa League qualifying matches, while also featuring twice in Champions League qualifying.

Enem began his senior career in Italy after leaving Ajax Under-18 for Venezia in 2022. He subsequently spent time on loan at Vis Pesaro, Ethnikos and Omonia 29th May before joining OFK Beograd on a free transfer in July 2025.

His move to OFK Beograd preceded a productive sequence of transfers: Red Star initially signed him on loan in January 2026 before making the move permanent later that year. Enem’s market value was listed at €4.5m before Bologna agreed a fee above that figure.

A right-footed centre-forward, Enem now continues his career in Serie A after collecting domestic honours in Serbia and making appearances in European qualifying competitions.

Enem is contracted to Bologna until 30 June 2030.
