Panathinaikos linked with Baltika defender Nathan Gassama
Nathan Gassama, the dual-national Mali and France defender at Baltika, is being linked with a move to Panathinaikos.
The 25-year-old centre-back has started all six of Baltika’s Premier Liga matches this season, playing 520 minutes and providing two assists. The rumoured move would take him from Russia’s top flight to Greece’s Super League 1.
Gassama joined Baltika from Bulgarian club Slavia Sofia in August 2023 in a €500,000 transfer. He helped the Kaliningrad side win the Russian second-tier title in 2025, and his current market value is listed at €1.5m.
There is no indication that a transfer has been agreed, while Gassama remains under contract with Baltika until 30 June 2028. He has also made no appearances in the Russian Cup this season.
Gassama began his senior career with Nantes B before spells at Troyes B and SO Cholet, then moved to Slavia Sofia on a free transfer in January 2023. Panathinaikos’ interest, if it develops, would therefore represent the latest stage of a career that has taken the defender from France through Bulgaria and Russia.
