Salzburg consider move for Leipzig’s El Chadaille Bitshiabu

France and DR Congo defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu is the subject of reported interest from Salzburg, with the 21-year-old currently contracted to Leipzig until June 2029.

Bitshiabu joined Leipzig from Paris St-Germain in July 2023 for a reported €15m and has since established his professional career in Germany. He is a centre-back and stands 1.96m tall.

The defender has yet to make an appearance for Leipzig this season, with the club having played one Bundesliga match and one DFB-Pokal fixture by 31 August. The lack of first-team involvement has coincided with speculation about a possible move to Salzburg.

Bitshiabu’s current market value is listed at €18m, while his long-term Leipzig contract means any transfer would not be a free move. There has been no indication that an agreement has been reached between the clubs, and the proposed switch remains a rumour.

A two-time French champion with Paris St-Germain, Bitshiabu was part of the France Under-17 side that won the European Under-17 Championship in 2022. He moved into PSG’s senior set-up after progressing through the club’s youth system before joining Leipzig.

The reported probability of a transfer is 51%, leaving the defender’s immediate future unresolved as he remains under contract with Leipzig.
