Venezia explore move for Elfsborg’s Ghana defender Rufai Mohammed

Ghanaian centre-back Rufai Mohammed is being linked with a move from Swedish club Elfsborg to Venezia, with the Serie A side considering a possible transfer for the 20-year-old.

Mohammed has made 15 Allsvenskan appearances for Elfsborg during the 2026 season, recording one assist and playing 626 minutes. He has also appeared once in the Svenska Cupen, scoring in a 1-0 win over Halmstad.

The defender joined Elfsborg from Inter Allies on 27 March 2024 and spent part of the following season on loan at Varnamo before returning to the Boras-based club at the end of November 2025. He has since featured in Elfsborg’s first-team squad as the club competes in Sweden’s top flight.

Mohammed’s current market value is listed at €350,000, while his contract with Elfsborg runs until 31 December 2029. That deal means the Swedish club are under no immediate pressure to allow him to leave, although the potential interest from Venezia could lead to discussions over a transfer.

Venezia are looking to add to their options in Serie A, while Mohammed’s recent involvement in league and cup football has placed him on the radar of the Italian club. The move remains at the rumour stage, with no transfer agreement confirmed.

Mohammed remains an Elfsborg player and is contracted to the Allsvenskan club for more than three years.
